About the event
‘Finding your tribe’ is a popular catch phrase that encourages people to surround themselves with
like minded people who motivate, challenge and stimulate you to actualize your potential. Tony
Robbins, Brene Brown and Oprah Winfrey talk about connection as a basic human need and
advocate that you are shaped by the 5 people you spend the most time with. But is there a science
behind the mountains of information we have access to about relationships and connection? How
do we find these people that are our tribe? What about when we have people in our lives that we
struggle with but can’t cut off? How do we maintain connection in a world that is by design creating
disconnection? And, more specifically, how do you find true connection and a sense of community
in a transient population that has insular ‘in groups’ like the Gold Coast?
Within this workshop you will:
- Understand the science behind belonging and connection
- Learn evidence based skills to experience love and connection with others
- Explore the art of relationships and understand their complexity through creative mediums (sculpture, drawing, drumming)
- Develop awareness of unhealthy patterns in relation to others and transform these patterns into workable strategies that maintain your well-being when in contact with difficult others
- Learn skills and strategies to manage conflict and communicate with others to improve your sense of connection
This workshop is for:
- Those who want to release old patterns in relationships
- Those wanting to experience a stronger sense of belonging and connection in their daily lives
- Those who don’t buy into what the majority are telling us (especially media) about what makes a healthy relationship and want to engage in creative discussions with others to challenge the status quo
- You may bring a particular relationship in mind to work on or come with a significant other.
You will take with you:
- A workbook that includes articles, exercises and information to support your ongoing work towards reconnecting in your life.
- Skills based learning to help put your insights into practice
- New evidence based tools to support your journey towards experiencing authentic and fulfilling relationships with others.
